Primary Purpose:

Review referrals for individual evaluation to determine appropriate interventions; assess students when an individual evaluation is recommended; ensure that legal requirements for evaluation are met and the evaluation report is shared with campus staff and parents; conduct ARD/IEP meeting and assist building administrator in ensuring that the ARD/IEP process and the quality of programs for students with disabilities are in compliance with Federal, State and Local requirements; review initial evaluations and interpret the educational implications of initial evaluation and reevaluations.

Education/Certification:

Master’s Degree/ Educational Diagnostician Certification

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Preparation and Planning:

  • Obtain data reports in order to maintain a schedule for timely completion of reevaluations and annual ARD meetings for students.
  •  Plan evaluation and ARD schedule in order to meet required timelines.
  • Collaborate and coordinate ARD/IEP schedules with campus staff.
  • Coordinate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated evaluations and ARD meetings within timelines.
  • Manage schedule to inform the director when assistance is needed in meeting timelines.
  • Maintain adequate supply of protocols, etc. and place order for materials in a timely manner.
  • Assist other professionals as time permits.
  • Communicate with building administrators regarding STAAR and other State Assessments.
  • Complete and turn in all required documentation within timelines.
  • Provide documentation of services to the director as requested.

 

Knowledge and Techniques:

  • Consult and Coordinate with teachers to assist in intervention strategies and techniques.
  • Utilize various assessment instruments and techniques, as part of a multidisciplinary team, to assist in identifying students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge, understanding and skill with respect to the appraisal process.
  • Provide instructional techniques and materials to meet individual needs.
  • Write compliant evaluation reports documenting state and federal requirements.
  • Provide training on campus as requested by the principal or director.
  • Train and assist teachers in docking criterion-referenced testing as needed.
  • High degree of knowledge regarding special education compliance requirements.
  • Seek professional growth and training in areas needing improvement.

 

Staff and Parent Relations:

  • Communicate with appropriate school personnel regarding evaluation results and strategies.
  • Communicate with the parent (and student when appropriate) regarding evaluation results and strategies.
  • Constructively interpret school services and guidelines when appropriate.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with school professionals to benefit students.
  • Displays sensitivity to the concerns of staff members and colleagues.
  • Works collaboratively and constructively with other departments, staff, and parents.
  • Provides consultative assistance to teachers upon request (including strategies, assist with IEP goals/objectives, etc.) and provides follow up as needed.

Student Management:

  • Manage testing and other materials in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Assist in the testing of the special education students during state assessments.

 

Professional Growth and Development:

  • Maintain membership and participation in professional organizations and/or update professional skill through annual staff development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent.
  • Uses information provided through assessment instruments, the district appraisal process, and evaluation feedback from supervisors to improve performance.
  • Disseminates information to other professionals and the community through written materials, conducting inservices, and through contact with outside agencies.
  • Strives to improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.



Professional Growth and Development:

  • Collaborate with area agencies serving students with disabilities to facilitate communication and the provision of services to students with disabilities.
